First tropical night of the year measured in the southwest
The first regional tropical night this year has been measured, Weeronline reports. At the Weather Stations Vlissingen and Hoek van Holland, the temperature in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday did not fall below 20 degrees. It is the first tropical night since August 13, 2024.
To officially speak of a tropical night, the temperature must remain above 20 degrees at least one day. At the weather stations in the southwest of the country it was 20 to 21.1 degrees at the coldest moments.
In several places the temperature remained above 20 degrees last night, but because it cools down during the day, a tropical night is not expected on Wednesday.
The last year without regional tropical night was in 2011, since then they have been found every year. A tropical night is quite exceptional in De Bilt, the last time was in 2020.
