The Giant started excellently, after two legs an average of 120 and a score of 2-0. A little later he also made it 3-0, despite a chance of a rebreak from ‘Heavy Metal’, as Searle’s nickname is. Van Veen was in good form when it came to scoring. At the break it was 4-1. An almost perfect start.
After the rest period he shot to 6-1. Just before the new break he made it 8-2 in a fantastic way: via the ‘Big Fish’, throwing 170.
Van Veen’s average was just under 110. There was no stopping him Heavy Metal this afternoon in Dortmund. Wervelwind Van Veen threw him out: 10-2. Van Veen defeated Damon Heta 6-3 in the first round.
