Ben Cramer and Imca Marina have no chance of participating in the Eurovision Song Contest if Jan Slagter becomes the man in charge of the decisions. “No, we are also going for Davina.”
There is a serious chance that the Eurovision Song Contest will move to the Jan Slagter broadcaster MAX if AvroTros continues to boycott the song festival. He would like to take over the event, but while AvroTros pays a lot out of his own pocket, Jan asks for a significant contribution from the NPO. What can we actually expect from a move?
No Imca
Critics will fear that MAX will soon want to send all its faded glory to the song festival. Does he want to send Bren Cramer and Imca Marina to the musical main stage of Europe? “No, no, no, those are nice jokes, but we’re not going to do that,” he says in front of the camera Show news.
And at RTL Boulevard: “Of course we will go for Davina Michelle. She is an excellent candidate. Yes, I think Ben Cramer has already participated once and no, that is certainly not the intention. And we are not sending Sieneke either.”
Quality
Reporter Aran Bade thinks that Ben and Imca can stay in the retirement home. “We don’t have to expect Imca Marina and so on, because Jan Slagter wanted to emphasize: ‘We really go for quality!’ Davina Michelle and maybe even a National Song Contest.”
Jan indeed confirms that. He says: “I would welcome a National Song Contest, where the public can also determine who we represent. And not leave that to a few people.”
Boulevard host Eddy Zoëy: “Then I would say: Davina Michelle as an artist and the choice is in the songs.”
Young and old
Does the Eurovision Song Contest fit MAX’s profile at all? Jan: “It is an event that is watched by young and old, so I think it suits us quite well. I assume that they (AvroTros, ed.) may participate again next year, but if that is not the case, then we can discuss it with us.”
“A Eurovision Song Contest in which so many countries participate, if you start to color it all politically, then we won’t be able to do anything anymore. You also deprive many Dutch artists of a very large stage.”
