Imani de Jong has won gold with the Dutch relay ladies at the European Championship long track in Rome. The 20-year-old swimmer from Amsterdam was part of the 4×200 meter freestyle. The Netherlands has never won gold in this discipline.

With a very young foursome, the Netherlands swam to the fastest time in the European championship. Imani de Jong (20), Silke Holkenberg (20), Janna van Kooten (17) and Marrit Steenbergen (22) were the first to touch.

De Jong was the first to dive into the water of the outdoor pool for the Netherlands. The 20-year-old swimmer gave the young relay team a good start, after which the rest could finish the job.

The European Championship long track in Rome started yesterday. Later this week, Kira Toussaint, Luc Kroon and Thom de Boer will also compete at the European Championships. The tournament will run until August 21.
