European Championships 2022 – live ticker from Friday, August 12th, 2022

11:31

Rowing (m): Clear entry into the final

The two Romanians Marius Cozmiuc and Sergiu Bejan easily won the first semi-final in men’s doubles. Behind them, Lithuania and Serbia are fighting for second place. Serbia secures this, but both boats are in the final with their top three placement.

11:19

Final sprint when rowing – what happens afterwards?

In rowing, the C-finals are rather irrelevant, before it’s all about the sausage again. There are more semi-finals on the schedule. From 12:00 p.m. sport climbing and track cycling get down to business!

11:08

Rowing (m): missed the final!

Perhaps the German quartet started the race a little too quickly. In any case, the Germans break in the last 500 meters and are clearly the losers against Romania and Switzerland in the end. The dream of the final is over for the German foursome.

11:03

Rowing (m): Turned up after a weak start!

In the second repechage the German boat didn’t get away too well. After a weak start, however, Tim Hagemeister, Malte Großmann Max John and Marc Kammann turned up the heat. At “halftime” the DRV starters are still in the lead.

11:03

Rowing (m): Easy victory

In the men’s four, the Poles advanced to the final after a commanding victory in the repechage. Behind Poland, Ukraine wins the duel for second place in the final against Italy.

10:54

Rowing (m): Fixed seat one

The repechage in the fixed seat one of the men is currently on the program. This class of boat isn’t all that ready, but of course it has its raison d’être. Brit Benjamin Pritchard clearly dominates this hopeful run and outshines the competition.

10:47

Rowing (m): Zeidler’s opponents are wanted

Two repechage runs in the men’s one follow. The opponents of Oliver Zeidler are being looked for, who reached the semi-finals yesterday after a botched start as the winner of his preliminary heat. The top two of each repechage reach this semi-final. First are Monegasque Antognelli and Swede Eskil Borgh, in the second repechage Italian Sartori and Slovenian Pfeifer advance.

10:34

Rowing (f): Sovereign victory!

Alexandra Föster achieves a start-to-finish victory here. The German never lets up and wins her repechage. This puts her in the semi-finals. Incidentally, the competitors from Slovenia and Lithuania placed behind her.

10:26

Rowing (f): Good semi-final chances!

Another repechage is now on the program in the women’s singles. The German Alexandra Föster is one of four starters. Three out of four players make it into the semi-finals, nothing else will be the goal for Föster, who is already clearly in the lead after a good start.

10:19

Rowing (m): Sovereign entry into the final

In the men’s easy doubles sculls, the two Swiss Jan Schäuble and Raphael Ahumada Ireland clearly win their repechage. So the two are in the final as well as the second-placed Ukrainians.

10:14

Rowing (f): The next finalists

In the second repechage of the lightweight women’s double sculls, the Irish duo prevailed just ahead of the Swiss. Both are in the final, but the fact that they duel for victory up to the photo finish also shows their sportsmanship.

10:07

Rowing (f): Bitter resignation!

I gave everything but was not rewarded in the end. The German boat only crosses the finish line in third place. In the end, the Polish duo is missing two seconds. Marion and Johanna Reichardt are therefore denied a place in the A final.

10:02 a.m

Rowing (f): Next final chance

But now back to the women! In the lightweight doubles, Marion and Johanna Reichardt are certainly not favorites on paper, but they will try to secure one of the first two places.

09:55

Rowing (m): The men intervene

After the first hour was reserved for the women, some boats are now also starting in the men’s competition. In the first repechage of the lightweight ones, Oskar Soedal was the first to make it into the semi-finals. Also Marlon Colpaert from Belgium and Kasper Hirvilampi are in the same.

09:49

Rowing (f): Two more finalists

With Aoife Casey and Stefania Buttignon, an Irish and an Italian have now been able to secure the final ticket in the second repechage of the lightweight ones.

09:45

Rowing (f): Dräger prevails!

A very strong performance by Marie-Louise Dräger! The German, who will retire at the end of the year, finished second in the lightweight singles repechage. After a big fight, she has to admit defeat to the Greek Fitsiou, but the 41-year-old from Schwerin is still in the final.

09:34

Rowing (f): DRV boat in the final!

Victory in this repechage goes to the Swiss, who narrowly defeated the Netherlands. In third place, the German boat crossed the line in front of Italy after a good final sprint and is therefore also in the final.

09:31

Rowing (f): final entry for Germany?

Now the quadruple is coming up. In this repechage even four out of six boats make it to the final. Sarah Wibberenz, Frauke Hundeling, Marie-Sophie Zeidler and Pia Greit are on the water for Germany on lane two.

09:23

Rowing (f): Clear success of the Netherlands

Completely unchallenged, the women’s four of the Netherlands wins the repechage. Behind them, Poland narrowly wins the fight for the final ticket against Italy. In the end, the German team is far behind in this race.

09:21

Rowing (f): The next class of boat

In the truest sense of the word, it’s one after the other. Now the viewers see a repechage in the women’s foursome. There is again a German boat, but the DRV athletes are not expected to have much of a chance in this repechage.

09:20

Rowing (f): The final is standing

Emily Hegarty and Fiona Murtagh make it to the end here and earn their final ticket in this repechage. The two Greek women also come behind them in the medal run. The German duo is meanwhile in sixth place and thus misses the final.

09:16

Rowing (f): Hot fight in the repechage

An additional repechage follows, which has two more final places ready for the first two boats. The race is currently being made by the Irish boat ahead of Greece and the Czech Republic. Lena Osterkamp and Marie-Catherine Arnold are in the running for Germany, but are already a long way behind.

09:15

Rowing (f): knocked off

That was nothing! Judith Guhse and Sophie Leupold do their best, but have no chance in the end. Almost 30 seconds are missing the victorious Romanians, who relegated Italy and Poland to places in this race.

09:12

Rowing (f): It’s going to be difficult!

While the Romanian duo is relaxed in the lead, things are not looking so good for the German boat. They are currently in fifth place and will probably miss the final.

09:11

Rowing (f): The first German boat!

In the second semi-final of the doubles two Germans are now also there. On track six, Judith Guhse and Sophie Leupold will fight for a place in the final. However, the first place there should already be taken, as the two top favorites are taking part. Ancuta Bodnar and Simona Radis from Romania are reigning Olympic champions and clear favorites for gold here as well.

09:07

Rowing (f): Safe!

As expected, the Dutch women clearly prevail. De Jong and Youssifou can even save energy here and slow down. Second place, which goes to the Lithuanian boat, is also safe. Behind them, Great Britain secures a place in the final after a great fight.

09:00

Rowing (f): Let’s go!

The first semi-final of the women’s double sculls has started. In this semi-final are among others the boats from Switzerland and Austria. However, the favorites are Roos de Jong and Laila Youssifou from the Netherlands, who rowed to bronze at the Olympics.

08:48

Rowing (m/f): It’s about to start!

As already mentioned, the second day of competition will open at the Olympic regatta facility. Medals are not yet awarded there, but there are some semi-finals and repechage events to be seen. The women start in double sculls!

08:40

The second day

The first three hours of today are all about rowing. Sport climbing and track cycling only provide further entertainment around 12 noon. In the latter, medals are also awarded in the afternoon, just like in BMX. The women’s triathlon is also on the program at around 5:15 p.m.

Warm welcome!

Good morning and hello back to the European Championships! The first competitions in Munich start at 9 a.m. today.
