Image of Vincent van Gogh from Assen is justified

The meter-high statue of Vincent van Gogh that was stolen from Assen earlier this month is justified. The artwork surfaced in Vledder on New Year’s Eve.

New Year’s Eve association De Oliebol is behind it. The statue was located at the Kop van de Vaart in Assen as part of the Vincent van Gogh exhibition that runs until January 7. On December 12 it disappeared. A sign was left at the place of the statue with the text: “I was surprised last night, I am now somewhere else with my brush.”

On New Year’s Day, the statue is officially presented and driven around the village.

The Vaart business association in Assen has reported the theft. It is not known whether this will be withdrawn. The statue of Vincent van Gogh will be replaced after consultation.
