The “Minecraft” film, or, as it actually means, “a Minecraft film” is not a bad film. It is extremely difficult to understand. At least if you are not familiar with “Minecraft”, and I don’t know about “Minecraft”. In contrast to the 140 million people who play the video game monthly. A game that has sold 300 million times – place one of the most successful games ever.
In the “Minecraft” world there is the upper world and the underworld. The game world is populated at the top and below by block people, retro-futuristic-looking 8-bit avatars, from cuboids, dice and rectangular prisms, all in 3-D, and which also consist of Voxel graphics (I have just read that with the voxels, I had never heard the word). There are good avatars that look like Carl “Up” Fredricksen, just with a gonzo nose. And there are evil avatars. Zombies that are reminiscent of the podgies from Jim Henson’s “Dark Crystal”. I can’t describe it better.
As in “Tron” or “Jumanji”, human heroes are transported to this video game world and have to fight for their survival there. Among them Jack Black, whom we know from the “Jumanji” remake with a similar mission, and which, as always, acts in a hibbled AC/DC mode, as well as a usual inflated, the video game craze of the 80s, Jason Momoa, here as a mixture of Bandersnatch and Eddie from “Stranger Things”.

A boy (Sebastian Hansen) and two women (Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks) also play. But although we live in 2025, equality and such, the two hairy men and the boy do the hard work, the blocks beat together, fly through the air as a reward, and the two women run after the shovels to do the smaller cases.
Jack Black and Jason Momoa, Dick and stupid, regularly get into arguments. Maybe a comment on the non-result-oriented living out toxic masculinity, counteracted by Momoa’s bright screeches during physical pain. If the two women in the team do not add much more than eye roles, what do we learn from it? Instead, one – other – admirer says to Momoa: “You should stuff her sack into my bin”.
In general, this film is absolutely remarkable that there is no single non-digital antagonist. Maybe the only film of his kind. Even Marvel, “Avatar” and “Star Wars” offer one or the other in a suit or one in a uniform. For some “Minecraft” new viewers, “Minecraft” may therefore be like a horror painting from the Green screen and volume canvas world. For gamers, however, “a Minecraft film” is exactly what they like to look at anyway. “Minecraft” fans will appreciate the WorldBuilding and its Easter Eggs. Perhaps it should be all that the film’s evaluation must be.
One of the Minecraft Avatars takes the step into the human world and takes a love affair with a human woman who looks like a 3-D graphic, Jennifer Coolidge, maybe the real avatar has been inaugurated, and Coolidge was previously inaugurated by director Jared Hess.
The young hero Henry, on the other hand, is that it is better not to become a master builder in the upper world, but in the human world. Already strange – after saving this upper world, you want to furnish yourself in it. Moving the blocks in the true world is not possible. After all, I knew that before.
