On its official online platforms, Bundesliga soccer team Borussia Dortmund likes to ask its stars about their dream teams. In the latest edition of the BVB format “Dream 11”, striker Youssoufa Moukoko was asked to put together his supposedly best Dortmund team. The youngster provided some quite surprising names.
For example, Moukoko put Roman Bürki, who was under contract with the black and yellow team between 2015 and 2022, in goal. “A goalkeeper who performed well here,” said the 19-year-old about the Swiss veteran, who was still between the Dortmund posts in Moukoko’s first Bundesliga game on November 21, 2020.
The favored four-man chain Moukokos has absolute legendary status. The German international selected Marcel Schmelzer, Neven Subotic, Mats Hummels and Lukasz Piszczek. So the quartet that played against FC Bayern (1:2) in the unforgettable Champions League final in 2013.
“He’s a great person who always gave young players a lot of tips. I’ve never seen a player with us who was in the gym so often. His character is outstanding,” Moukoko said, especially for long-time right-back Lukasz Piszczek words.
In midfield, the Westphalian attacker chose Jadon Sancho, Marco Reus, Shiinji Kagawa and Ousmane Dembélé in the “BVB Dream 11”.
Moukoko’s dream XI: Haaland storms alongside Lewandowski
Up front, Moukoko couldn’t get past former BVB striker and later world footballer Robert Lewandowki, who was under contract with Borussia Dortmund between 2010 and 2014: “He’s one of the best strikers in Europe. He proved that here in Dortmund, then in Munich and now Barcelona. He can score goals with his right, his left, his head, his knee, his thigh, with all parts of his body,” said Moukoko about the 35-year-old, who won the German championship twice with BVB.
As the second striker, Moukoko chose “Torgarant” Erling Haaland, with whom he played together from 2020 to 2022.
“I’ll even win the Champions League with this team,” said BVB star Moukoko in conclusion about his “BVB Dream 11”.
