Johan Derksen is not interested in Wim Kieft if his job at Studio Voetbal ends. Unless René van der Gijp stops with Today Inside. “Then he would be an excellent replacement.”
The talk show Studio Voetbal is disappearing due to budget cuts and that is quite a setback for Wim Kieft, who has just started there. Is he welcome at the table at Today Inside if the NOS equivalent ceases to exist? “No,” says Johan Derksen succinctly in his podcast Greetings from Grolloo.
Wim not welcome
There is no need for him, says Johan. “Wim Kieft is not welcome, but that has nothing to do with Wim Kieft, because Wilfred, René and I all think Wim is a great boy and we were also very happy that he got a place at the table at the NOS, but we are no longer a football program.”
There are still football items, he continues, but: “The football part is completely covered by René van der Gijp and on Monday after the weekend Valentijn Driessen from De Telegraaf will be there. If Wim Kieft also joins us, then we will be a specific football program again and those days are behind us.”
Excellent replacement
There is one conceivable situation in which Wim could be present again, according to Johan. “Look, if René were to quit, Wim Kieft would be an excellent replacement, but alone at the table with ex-footballers who then solve the war in Ukraine, I find it unbelievable.”
And if he has to choose between Wim or Valentijn? “I therefore choose Valentijn. He is also a very good down-to-earth boy.”
Nothing fun
Valentine is a boring man, Johan thinks. “Valentine doesn’t like anything. I’ve never heard of him getting excited about anything. He does have a woman who stays with him.”
He concludes: “Wim is a great guy and we were really happy for Wim, because he also needs the money, but there is no room in our program for another football analyst.”
