If it wasn’t for Lewandowski, Haaland would be an issue

Bavaria’s honorary president Uli Hoeneß knows the football world and knows about the qualities of FCB striker Robert Lewandowski. In an interview, he raved about BVB offensive man Erling Haaland.

Uli Hoeneß believes Bayern Munich’s thoughts on signing Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland are superfluous. Robert Lewandowski “will be able to play at such a high level for at least another three or four years. And FC Bayern would have been hit with the bell if they sent Robert away and got Erling Haaland at any cost,” said Hoeneß in an interview with the Sports Information Service (SID).

The current situation with the German record champions says nothing about the qualities of Haaland, emphasized Honorary President Hoeneß.

“So one thing is certain: that Erling Haaland would look good on every team in the world. There is no question about that. And if we didn’t have Robert Lewandowski, thank God we have him, FC Bayern would certainly have to deal with Haaland.”

Haaland enjoyed “the highest esteem” from him, emphasized Hoeneß. Should the Norwegian not be available as a successor for the Pole after Lewandowski’s time with Bayern, it would just have to be rethought. “There will be another soccer player somewhere in the world who can wear number nine at Bayern Munich. I’m not worried about that.”
