Hollywood actress Terrence Howard says she has refused to play a role in a biography about soul legend Marv Gay. Howard talks about Bill Mahler Club random in the podcast. Reported Pinknewssite.
Howard would have acted in the film, Marvin Gayeta. He says he has already considered the role in a podcast interview, but he has come to other thoughts after discussing with musician-producer Quincy Jones.
Howard and Jones had a debate about Gaye’s sexuality.
– I ask you quincy, I heard rumors that Marvin Gaye would be gay and asked, “Is he gay.” And Quincy replied, “Yes,” Howard says in the podcast.
Knowledge of Gaye’s sexuality turned Howard’s head and refused to play the role.
“They would have wanted to do it, but I couldn’t do it,” Howard says.
Howard says in the podcast that he wouldn’t be able to kiss the man on the screen.
“If I kissed a man, I would cut my lips off,” Howard says.
Howard asserts in the podcast that he does not make him homophobic if he does not want to kiss a man.
“Do what you love to do, but don’t do it for me,” Howard says.
Gaye himself did not publicly come out of the closet in his life years.
