The Iserlohn Roosters got rid of their frustration at bottom team Dresdner Eislöwen.

After three games without a goal, the Sauerlanders ended this negative series on Wednesday evening with a clear 6:1 (3:0, 2:1, 1:0) win in Dresden. With the first “threesome” since the first matchday, Iserlohn extended its lead over the last place in the table to five points.

Christian Thomas (5th), Danniel Fischbuch (10th), Eirik Salsten (11th/28th), Kyle Wood (32nd) and Tyler Boland (50th) scored for Iserlohn, Sebastian Gorcik (25th) for Dresden. The IEC had already won the first meeting with Dresden this season (4:3 nV).

Thomas breaks the spell, Fischbuch and Salsten follow up

The game began with top-class chances on both sides, which initially ended with the two goalkeepers Andreas Jenike (Iserlohn) and Juho Olkinura (Dresden). The Roosters’ goalless streak ended in the 5th minute. Iserlohn took advantage of a mistake in the Eislöwen’s substitution for a quick attack, which Christian Thomas, free in front of Olkinura, used to make it 1-0. It was the Roosters’ first goal after 219 DEL minutes without a goal.

As against Mannheim, Iserlohn created further good chances, but this time he took advantage of them. Daniel Fischbuch increased the score to 2-0 in the 10th minute, which led to early chants of “We want to see you fight” from the Dresden fans. The Sauerlanders took advantage of Dresden’s uncertainty and made it 3-0 just 37 seconds later through Erik Salsten, who somewhat accidentally deflected the puck into the goal (11th).

A penalty for Thomas (14th) led to Dresden’s first power play of the game, but the Eislöwen were unable to use it. Instead, Iserlohn controlled the action and went into the third break with a comfortable 3-0 lead.

Salsten puts together the double pack

At the beginning of the second third, the game dragged on for a few minutes until Sebastian Gorcik got back into the game (25th). But the Roosters’ response didn’t take long to arrive. Salsten restored the old lead with his second goal of the game (28th).

According to the motto “Once it works, it works,” the Roosters continued to play and scored their fifth goal of the evening with a powerful shot from distance from Kyle Wood (32′). After the home team’s third power play remained without a goal, Iserlohn had an opportunity to score the sixth goal, but left it unused. A concert of whistles from the Dresden fans at the end of the third.

Boland with the final point

Little happened for a long time in the final third until Tyler Boland, who was completely free in front of the Dresden goal, steered the puck into the net on an assist from Colin Ugbekile to make it 6-1 (50th). Shortly afterwards, Eric Cornel missed another chance to make it 7:1 (52nd).

Friday against Munich
