Waylon arouses misunderstanding among the men of RTL Boulevard. They do not think it is very wise that the singer reacts so emotionally to criticism. “It’s better to just leave it alone.”
In general, many celebrities find it difficult to be criticized. One of them is Waylon. He does not like that Rob Goossens has said in the RTL Boulevard podcast that he behaves in the TV program Better Than Ever as if it were the great Willem Blijkerk show, referring to the singer’s actual name.
Angry Waylon
Waylon thinks that the men of Boulevard are very keen on effect. He sneered in a message on the Instagram page of the show section: “Piece of class journalism… Tonight again the great Willem Bijkerk show on RTL. Kiss Rob and try to score something less easy / cheap. Would you adorn. Bye!”
In the context of a fuss, Waylon’s reaction is also discussed again in the latest episode of the Boulevard podcast. “It is special that he reacts to that”, Rob notes.
Colleague Luuk Ikink: “Should he have let it slide?”
‘had left it’
Rob thinks so. “I had left it nice. Anyway: I didn’t say it was the great Willem Blijkerk show, but that it seemed like he thought it was the great Willem Blijkerk show, because he just wasn’t really participating and with those stupid sunglasses there that non-existent shine was caught, so to speak.”
He continues: “I was extremely annoyed by that, but I also found it funny. I also thought it contributed something to the program.”
Lots of comments
Luuk thinks that Waylon may be taking it too seriously. “Do you know whatever it is? When you’re on TV you get a lot of reactions from viewers. Some people like it, but there are also a lot of people who are bothered by what you do or how you are on TV or whatever. I can always imagine that, because I often get annoyed by something.”
He then refers to something he sees on television. And that’s one of the reasons I watch TV. I like that too, because then I can get a little annoyed and then I think: Jesus, what are you doing stupid. And then it’s done again just like that. It is also a piece of service.”
Provoke reactions
It’s just part of television, says Luuk. “You provoke reaction, emotion. On all levels. With things you say, what you look like and who you are. That makes sense of course.”
Rob: “Exactly that. And Waylon chooses to sit inside with sunglasses on. Last time I checked he wasn’t blind, so I don’t really think he has a very good reason for that.”
By the way, Waylon no longer wore sunglasses after the first episode of Better Than Ever. “I think the production has said something about it. I hope so anyway. But yes: my criticism of the first episode stands.”
