On August 19, a series of tests were revealed that link the Spaniard with a sect of human trafficking and although he is not accused of any crime, supposedly the singer would be a special client of said network.
The voice of the Spanish artist appears in a telephone conversation with one of the leaders of the organization, Susana Mendelievich, nicknamed “Mendy”, in which they supposedly agree to meet in a hotel, according to the sources.

The sources specified that the conversation was recorded last April, when Placido Domingo, 81, traveled to Argentina to perform at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires.
In his statements in the city of Monterrey, where he offered a concert, Domingo assured that he felt betrayed by the supposed friends he had in the criminal group. “Man, it makes me sad when you’ve had friends for many years and you realize you’ve been used, then that’s the way it is,” he said.
The scandal caused the cancellation of a concert that the tenor had planned to offer on October 16 in Santiago de Chile.

According to the promoting company, the cancellation is due to “difficulties in the logistics of the tour” and “a situation that escapes” their “hands as a producer”, for which they regret “the complications that this may cause”.
