29-year-old Duncan Laurence performed in Paradiso a month ago, but caused quite a commotion by leaving the stage quite early and not saying goodbye to his visitors; suddenly the singer was gone. De Telegraaf then started to speculate about the reason, after which the singer gave an angry account of the media.

A few songs included

Duncan was somewhat concerned about the criticism, because he apologized and indicated that he would extend his concerts. How does the singer look back on this a month later? RTL Boulevard had him on camera yesterday.

He says that he apologized to his fans, but absolutely not to the media. “There are so many artists who are on stage for 70 or 75 minutes… I don’t care about De Telegraaf, sorry Telegraaf, but my fans… If they say so, yes of course, then I’ll add two or three songs.”

Much misunderstanding

According to Duncan, it is true that he has a somewhat difficult relationship with the media. “I sometimes have a lot of misunderstandings. Yes, I understand that it may have been abrupt, but do we have to push back against it so hard? It just created a very unsafe feeling for me and it felt a bit like some kind of attack that maybe wasn’t necessary.”

He concludes: “Sometimes it does make you think: OK, be careful when you go a step too far, when you might be attacking someone’s mental health at that moment.”
