In the final of the PDC World Darts Championship, 17-year-old Luke Littler defeated 35-year-old Michael van Gerwen by 7-3.

Littler from England dominated the match throughout the game. Dutchman van Gerwen narrowed the match for the first time after Littler’s fourth set win. However, the Dutchman could not keep up with Littler. Van Gerwen has won the World Cup tournament in 2014, 2017 and 2019.

After the victory, the 17-year-old prodigy burst into tears. Littler is the youngest world champion ever.

– This is everyone’s dream. I can’t believe this, Littler commented after the win.

– Kapula has been handed over. This generation’s special talent beats the great Michael van Gerwen. The teenager is a world champion at only 17 years old, Sky Sports commentator Dan Dawson comment.

The winner of the World Cup tournament received a juicy prize pot: half a million pounds. The loser of the final received £200,000.

“Exceptional individual”

It was Littler’s second World Cup tournament. Last year, the teenage sensation threw himself into the final, but lost to Luke Humphries 7-4. Littler will only turn 18 at the end of the month.

– We talk about an exceptional individual when we talk about Luke Littler, Veijo Viinikka, executive director of the Finnish Darts Association, commented earlier.

– The level of work is unbelievable. Of course, there must be a certain talent and passion.

The Darts World Championships were played in London’s Alexandra Palace from mid-December.
