HANDBALL – Trainer/coach Joop Fiege of Hurry-Up will get the left-handed build-up player Nicolai Schoemaker (30) from Denmark in the summer.

After Patrick Miedema, Schoemaker, who will use the name of his Dutch partner in Zwartemeer, is Hurry-Up’s second reinforcement. Just like Miedema, the Dane can be used in various positions in the superstructure row.

Schoemaker last played for Elitesport Vendsyssel in his home country, where he was also commercial manager. In his twenties, Schoemaker was under contract with second Bundesliga club TUSEM Essen for some time.

“At Vendsyssel I started to focus on the peripheral matters at the club, but due to injuries I had to go back on the track. That went so well that it started to itch to play more,” explains the right builder.

Schoemaker and his family, a son and baby on the way, have always wanted to move to the Netherlands. “My wife’s family comes from Meppel, so I started looking for a club in the area. Through Toon Leenders, who I know from my time in Essen, I came into contact with Hurry-Up. I think the team with Patrick ( Miedema, ed.) and will get me the necessary experience in the build-up row.”

Opposite the arrival of Schoemaker is the departure of Erik Blaauw (SGSH Dragons, Germany), Dragan Vrgoc (HB Käerjeng, Luxembourg) and Stijn Brinks (Bevo 2). Right corner player Bart Mik is going to retire.
