Ivan Perišic is very happy that he is also under contract with PSV for the next two years. The 36-year-old Kroaat extended his expiring contract in the Philips Stadium on Friday afternoon. “The previous season was great, but I am very hungry and want to pop as much as possible in the new season.”
“This is a wonderful day for me, my family and other loved ones,” says the international of Croatia. “We were having a great time here last season. Of course it was a tough year, with a lot of goals and assists for me personally. But winning the national title was ultimately the absolute highlight for all of us.”
Perišic will not be there next week when PSV will start preparing for the new season. He goes to Croatia for a week. “I have had a wonderful holiday, but from tomorrow I will be hard again with my coach to prepare myself in the coming year.”
He keeps new goals for himself. “I can say that I think it is very important to help younger players. I know how difficult it was when I left my native country at the age of 17.”
Earnest Stewart, Director of Football Affairs at PSV, is happy with the contract extension. “Ivan is a wonderful example of what it takes to achieve the absolute top and stay there. Last season he already brought other players with it in a very good way and that helps us enormously.”
