The asylum boat on the Zomerdijk in Meppel has been evacuated for a short time tonight. The battery of a telephone caught fire and therefore about three hundred residents had to leave their accommodation.
According to a spokeswoman for the Drenthe Security Region, it was a ‘small fire’, in which a lot of smoke was released. After the fire brigade had ventilated the rooms in the boat, everyone could go back inside.
As far as we know, nobody was injured.
