Humor or vandalism? Tribute to Johnny Cash on water tower gets bullet in intimate place | Abroad

For decades, the silhouette of Cash, who died in 2003, has been depicted on the water tower in the village in the state of Arkansas. Last week, the silhouette came under fire and Cash was hit in a sensitive place – probably not entirely coincidentally. A bullet struck right between Cash’s legs, making it seem as if the musical genius is urinating tens of meters down from the tower.

Some villagers can laugh at the joke, but not everyone sees the humor in it. According to one resident, 100,000 liters of water leak out every day, costing the community about $200 a day. There is now a huge puddle of water on the ground under the tower.

‘Can’t be a coincidence’

The curious scene would have even attracted tourists to the village. “This cannot be a coincidence. Here someone is trying to be really funny,” one of them told local media.

It wouldn’t have been the first time Cash had come under fire. He is said to have been a target once in 1993. It is not clear when the village will repair the damage.
