Humberto Tan was not allowed to broadcast images of the infamous interview about Princess Mabel on Sunday evening. The reason for this seems to have been lied to. “Endemol has blamed the RVD.”
Some unrest has arisen because Humberto Tan was not allowed to broadcast images in his talk show on Sunday evening from the SBS 6 interview that Peter R. de Vries had in 2003 with Charlie da Silva, Klaas Bruinsma’s ex-bodyguard. The interview made it clear that Princess Mabel had a relationship with this top criminal.
Block of the RVD?
Why was Humberto not allowed to broadcast the images? Former SBS boss Tina Nijkamp and Peter’s former right-hand man Kees van der Spek sat at the table and mentioned the RVD as the reason. Tina: “Well, Endemol is the copyright owner of the images and they have informed the editors of Humberto: ‘Listen, there is a block.’”
A block of the Government Information Service. That is of course a bit strange. After all, the RVD does not deal with the content of programs on television. “I think that’s scary. Very scary,” commented columnist Jan Dijkgraaf.
In control
Tina wrote on Insta after the broadcast: “The RVD likes to keep the reins, including a self-invented Media Code. Not to be found in the law books, but if you do not comply with it as a TV producer, newspaper or magazine, you will be punished. Then you can be excluded from attendance at royal photo sessions, for example.”
Not much later, the RVD denied that such a ‘block’ exists and gave EndemolShine in the AD admits that the decision lay with them: “It may happen that some fragments cannot be seen forever, because they have a certain shelf life. We also have to deal with a human dimension in those considerations.”
‘What is this?!’
What a bizarre reaction, Tina says initially. “What kind of vague explanation of EndemolShine is this? Why then did they give the RVD as the reason for the ‘block’ at the Humberto editors? I can share the app traffic if I have to. Very weird. Curious about the why of this late statement and the why of the suddenly completely different story.”
Dan: “It’s getting more and more shadowy. What is the real reason for the ‘block’? Very curious.”
Endemol admits
Tina has since been in contact with EndemolShine. “Update: Endemol has just admitted that it has indeed given the editors of Humberto the RVD as the reason for the ban on the use of images. It was a mistake by Endemol, made in haste on Sunday, when requesting the images.”
“The real reason is that they don’t release images anymore out of piety with Mabel.”
