Yussuf Poulsen remains unlucky in the Hamburger SV jersey. The 31-year-old striker, who became the match winner in the 3-2 win in the northern derby against Werder Bremen, will be missing from the Rothosen again. The veteran was injured in training before the Bundesliga home game against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday (3:30 p.m.) and will have to miss several weeks.
“He sprained without any outside influence and will not be available to us in the long term until January. We still have to wait for the exact diagnosis, but this is not a nice moment for him or for us,” explained HSV coach Merlin Polzin. Poulsen’s absence will not be a matter of two weeks. This increases the pressure for HSV to improve in the attack center during the winter break. In addition to Poulsen, Ransford Königsdörffer (24) and Robert Glatzel (31, each with one goal this season), who is also currently injured, are in the squad.
After twelve years at RB Leipzig, Poulsen moved to HSV this season. But two thigh injuries and an injury to the hip area have repeatedly thrown the Dane, who was planned as a leading figure and regular striker, back in recent months. He also only came on as a substitute against Werder in the 82nd minute. Two minutes later he scored the decisive goal – with his first touch of the ball.
