Robert Glatzel is currently sorely missed at Hamburger SV. The striker will probably only be available to HSV again in the spring.
As “Sport Bild” reports, Glatzel will return to the pitch in March 2025 at the latest. The 30-year-old is currently undergoing light muscle building training.
Glatzel tore a tendon in his adductor area during a friendly against Danish first division club Aarhus GF (1-1) in October and was then successfully operated on.
Glatzel himself commented on his health during HSV’s 2-2 draw against SV Darmstadt 98. “I’m making progress,” he said on the “Sky” microphone and added: “It’s getting a little better every day. But it’s a major injury and unfortunately it’s still going to take a while.”
Without Glatzel, Davie Selke and Ransford Königssdörffer had formed the new strike duo at HSV in recent weeks.
Selke has eight goals this season, Königssdörffer seven goals and two assists.
Glatzel had scored eight times in seven competitive games before his injury.
“Bild” recently reported that the bosses of Hamburger SV are thinking about bringing in reinforcements for the storm center in the winter. The Rothosen are exploring the market, it was said in November. However, no fundamental decision has yet been made regarding a possible emergency transfer.
Glatzel raves about HSV coach Polzin
After 15 match days, HSV is in seventh place in the 2nd Bundesliga. The gap to a direct promotion place is just two points.
After separating from Steffen Baumgart, Merlin Polzin will be in charge of the North German team at least until the winter break.
“He can give us a lot. Merlin has been in Hamburg for four and a half years. He has known many players for a long time and therefore also their strengths and weaknesses. He also has a clear philosophy and wants to play offensively,” Glatzel enthused on “Sky”. the new coach.
