Hamburger SV recorded its sixth departure in the current winter transfer window on Saturday afternoon. Central defender Gui Ramos is moving to Chinese first division club Beijing Guoan.

The 28-year-old had already completed his medical check in Hamburg last week at the request of the club from the Chinese Super League, and the final formalities have now been completed. According to the “Bild” newspaper, the Rothosen received a last-minute transfer fee of 100,000 euros. The Portuguese would have been free in the summer.

Ramos had only played 41 Bundesliga minutes in eight appearances this season. The prospect of the defensive giant, who moved from Arminia Bielefeld to Elbe for free in 2023, was considered very manageable. HSV had already loaned Ramos to Santa Clara in his Portuguese homeland last season, where he was only used six times. The professional’s former maximum market value of 2 million euros had recently fallen to 700,000 euros.

“Gui is an exemplary professional who has always put himself at the service of the team and has shown full commitment with the diamond on his chest from day one. He was always there immediately when he was needed. His goal in the cup game in Pirmasens is symbolic of this. An opportunity has now arisen for his sporting perspective in which there are no obstacles in his way. We wish Gui only the best for his future,” said sports director Claus Costa. For Ramos, talent Shafiq Nandja (19) is moving even closer to the professional squad.

Ramos said goodbye with emotional words: “It was a great honor for me to represent a club with such a great history as HSV. Being able to wear the diamond and be part of this journey is something that I will always cherish. The path was not always easy, but I leave with unforgettable memories, friendships for life and the knowledge that I gave everything in every moment. I would like to express my sincere thanks to my teammates, the staff, the board and especially the incredible fans. Your passion and support “I wish HSV all the best for the future. My chapter as a player here is over, but my connection to the club remains and I will continue to follow HSV with great appreciation and respect.”
