Hamburger SV is relying on continuity and is extending the contract with Claus Costa early. The sports director was instrumental in the club’s return to the Bundesliga.
Hamburger SV has extended the contract with sports director Claus Costa early. His previous contract would have expired in the summer of 2026. According to HSV board member Stefan Kuntz, this decision was made due to Costa’s crucial contribution to the club’s return to the Bundesliga and the restructuring of the squad.
Costa has held this position since March 2023 after moving to HSV from Leverkusen in 2019. Kuntz now praised: “Claus has completely convinced me with his know-how and his commitment over the past year and a half.”
Claus Costa himself also said: “I am highly motivated to continue on our chosen path and, together with the board, the coaching team, the team and the entire office, to re-establish HSV in the Bundesliga.”
