After weeks of negotiations, the change from Yussuf Poulsen to the HSV is perfect. The Danish striker comes from RB Leipzig to the Bundesliga promoted and replaces Davie Selke, who will play in Turkey in the future.

The 31-year-old completed the mandatory medical check on Sunday and then signed a contract, whose term of which the HSV was not announced. Leipzig receives a transfer fee of around 1.5 million euros. Poulsen will go to the Hanseatic campaign in Herzogenaurach on Monday, where he will probably celebrate his debut in the HSV jersey on Saturday in the test game against Sturm Graz.

“He is a face of the Bundesliga,” said HSV board member Stefan Kuntz. “He only knows too well what matters after an ascent to keep the class and to establish itself in the Bundesliga in the long term.” The Hamburgers found a replacement for Selke, with which the promoted team could not agree to an extension of the expired contract. Selke will appear for the Turkish first division club Istanbul Basaksehir in the coming season.

Poulsen is a record player of RB Leipzig

Poulsen has been playing with the Leipzigers since 2013. He rose from the third division to the Bundesliga with the club and is a record player of the club with 425 competitive game operations (95 goals). Most recently, the 31-year-old was no longer a regular player with the Saxons.

“The HSV is a great club. My first international game I have ever seen was the game between FC Copenhagen and HSV in the UEFA Cup.”

His goal rate also went down significantly: in the past four seasons, he only scored a total of 22 competitive goals. For the Danish national team, Poulsen ran in 87 games (most recently in November last year), in which he scored 14 goals.
