Singer-songwriter Maija Vilkkumaa49, graduated with a master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Helsinki, majoring in the Finnish language, says Helsingin sanomat newspaper.
The singer spent 31 years studying. He started studying at the university in 1992, after which the rock life and career as an artist took its course.
– It’s wonderful that the 31-year journey has finally come to an end. But yes, there is also a sense of nostalgia: there will be no more new courses. I don’t think I will become a real linguist, Vilkkumaa thought to Helsingin Sanomat.
Maija Vilkkumaa is a long-established domestic artist who initially performed in the Tarharymmä group. His career as a solo artist took off in 1999 Satumaa tango– song.
Vilkkumaa is one of the artists who have sold the most albums in Finland. Eighth studio album 1973 saw the light of day in October 2022. In November 2023, Vilkkumaa will perform an arena gig at the Helsinki Ice Hall.
