Even if they are unlikely to reach the peak of last March, the rise in petrol and diesel prices, caused by the lack of extension on the cut in excise duties which expired on 31 December 2022, is fueling concern throughout the transport sector, both public and private. The cut in excise duties on petrol and diesel officially ended on 31 December, but in the last month of validity, the size of the government discount was 18.3 cents instead of 30.5. From 1 January the cost of petrol and diesel increased by 15 cents per liter due to the increase in excise duties. LPG, on the other hand, rises by 2.8 cents per litre. VAT must be added to these sums, which leads to a final increase of 18.3 cents per liter on petrol and diesel, and 4.3 cents per liter on LPG.

where to find them

Faced with a similar scenario, the only viable savings option for users is to refuel where fuel costs the least, the so-called white pumps. If the operators of the plants linked to the traditional oil companies have very limited room for maneuver on prices, in many cases it is possible to hope for a greater discount by using the plants not linked to the big brands, which are able to obtain supplies from different wholesalers depending on the conditions. Also called “no logo”, these are gas stations from brands such as Beyfin, Vega, Retitalia or Keropetrol. On the pompebianche.it website, which also serves as an App and interactive map to find the systems, as of December 28, 2022 there are 7,717 active white pumps in Italy.
