How the start of 2026 became another battle: younger, more aggressive and more explosive

While tens of thousands of people celebrated and counted down to the new year, New Year’s Eve went completely off the rails elsewhere. Young people openly sought confrontation with stones, firebombs and fireworks. The police spoke of a “controllable” night, but the violence left little to the imagination. So New Year’s Eve became a battle for teenagers.
