How much does a beer cost at the World Junior Championships in Canada?

The prices of soft drinks in Moncton are close to the prices of ice rinks in Finland. So there is no cheap alcohol.

Moosehead is the beer brand of Avenir Centre. A half-liter pint of malt liquor costs 10.44 Canadian dollars, or roughly 7.20 euros. Ipa and Radler are the same price.

In Moncton, the hall also sells “stiff”, i.e. strong alcoholic drinks. A four cent shot of whiskey keeps the cold away and costs around 6.20 euros. Avenir Center is a very cold arena.

You can also buy a cocktail from the corridor bars in the hall. A vodka-based drink costs just under 13 euros.

Cider is also available. A can of apple stuff costs 8.50 euros.

Poutine

The hot dog seems to be the number one hit on the food side. You can grab a hearty nakki bun in the stands for 4.80 euros.

Moncton is located in the province of New Brunswick. It is Canada’s only officially bilingual province. About nine percent of the residents speak only French, about 30 percent are bilingual.

That’s why there is also poutine on the hall’s menu. Poutine is a dish originating from Quebec, Canada, consisting of french fries, cream cheese and sauce.
