FC Schalke four once again impresses with top performances and inspires the fans. This upswing is anything but a coincidence. Instead, the result of data analysis. Here in Gelsenkirchen, new players and coaches were analyzed before the season in search of the perfect Schalke DNA.
That’s how we thought about it in the summer of 24: How do we actually want to play football as Schalke four? And now we have something special. We have a great arena that you can light up. We can benefit from the atmosphere. And that was the basic idea. What kind of football do we want to play? Intense, aggressive, courageous. What does it take physically to be able to play this game? And we called that Schalke DNA.
Specifically, a scouting tool is used to analyze players’ performance data such as athleticism and technique and see how much Schalke DNA they have. This is also the case with shooting star Soufian Lfusi. With 99% Schalke DNA, he was made for the Royal Blues. Which he impressively proves with such dream passes.
But the data and numbers are only part of it.
When scouting Of course, live scouting is still important and other factors also play a role in player selection. Soft factors Does the player’s mentality and character suit Schalke, for example. This is then perhaps a little more difficult to see in data.
And especially here at Schalke, character is important for the fans. The criterion of a Schalke DNA.
So the Schalke DNA is that he can do it, he leaves the pitch and the jersey is dirty.
This hard-working feeling, this wanting to fight, this wanting to succeed together.
Also important for Schalke coach Miron Musulic. And the Schalke DNA is right for him too.
In the end we had a list of around ten trainers, where all the criteria were taken into account, where we said, okay, let’s take a closer look at them now, then I think we had initial discussions with 5 to 8 trainers and then a shortlist. In the end there were three left, one of whom was Miron. And then in the discussions we realized okay, that’s fine. And then we decided on him.
With innovative ways and the right DNA, Schalke is on the way to celebrating with the fans in the future.
