Albert Verlinde immediately made for controversial television with his first performance as Wednesday-Gijp. He became very angry live on television, namely with Victor Vlam. “With your stupid face!”

It has gone down the wrong way with some people that Victor Vlam has wondered out loud whether Martijn Krabbé has smoked now that he has been struck by metastatic lung cancer. “Well, there’s something really special about him today… That man just flamed out for me. Did you read what he said about Martijn Krabbé today?”, said Albert Verlinde.

Stupid head

Albert leaves the table Today Inside know that Victor’s statements have disturbed him enormously. “I’m so angry about that. That he says: ‘When I read that about Martijn Krabbé who has cancer, I wondered: is it because of smoking? Does he smoke?’ Then I think: how dare you suggest something like that?”

It is completely inappropriate to include this, according to the show expert. “I think that as we sit here, we all have people around us who at some point have been affected by cancer and often they cannot do anything about it, they are healthy. How do you get it into your stupid head to include that?”

Inappropriate

Johan Derksen, who the evening before complimented Victor for an analysis of American politics, agrees with Albert. “Yes, inappropriate comment.”

Albert: “Oh, horrible.”

Wilfred Genee: “Certainly. It’s so, so sad, isn’t it, that news from him and…”

Voiceover

Albert is quite emotional about it. “I think Martijn… I have known him for a long time, a really long time, and that he is going through this, but also that he is so cool to sit down and do that voice-over again…”

Martijn has resumed his work as a voice-over for Kopen Zonder Kijken. “And when he shared that photo of himself, I think that was very cool too. To say: this is who I am now, because you can also think: I want people to have the Martijn Krabbé in their heads as I always was.”

Vulnerable

Johan also likes how honestly Martijn shares his current disease process. “You are very vulnerable and very brave, yes.”

Victor has not yet responded to Albert’s fierce criticism.
