How can you ‘do good’? Companies help social organizations at the Alkmaar fair

Doing good: that is the motto with which the Doesgoed Foundation organized a major event in the AFAS Stadium in Alkmaar yesterday. Civil society organizations could look for a match here with companies that want to contribute. “We have already received the high tea for people with memory problems”, two ladies from care organization De Zorgcircle declare happily.

On Thursday, Alkmaar mayor Anja Schouten opened De Beursvloer in the AFAS Stadium with a huge gong with her colleague Peter Rehwinkel from Dijk en Waard. It was the first time in two years that social organizations and entrepreneurs could once again be matched. “That is important, because we can only solve all major issues in Alkmaar and the region together,” says Schouten.

Beauty afternoon

Two employees of the elderly care organization De Zorgcircle cheerfully declare in playful, gray wigs: “We really want to spoil our people with memory problems, because they simply deserve that.”

They are happy because they have found a match. “We have already received the high tea, and we will soon hear from the Horizon college whether we will have a beauty afternoon for the people. That is of course absolutely great.”

Multiple municipalities

Initially, the event was mainly for entrepreneurs and organizations from Alkmaar and Dijk en Waard, but now participants from municipalities such as Heiloo and Bergen are also joining. Doesgoed Foundation (formerly De Waaier) organized the event for the ninth time, but never before under this new name.
