The rules for housing splitting in the outskirts of the municipality of Aa and Hunze made it easier to illuminate the shortage on the housing market. This way, smaller buildings can be split and you can divide a building into more than two homes.

The Mayor and Aldermen College adopted the new rules on 26 August. With these new rules it becomes easier to divide buildings into several homes, without the cost of spatial or cultural -historical value. Residents who want to investigate this possibility can contact the municipality.

“With this change, we not only create extra living space, but we also make it possible for seniors, for example, to continue to live in their familiar environment,” says alderman Ivo Berghuis (Gemeentebelangen Aa and Hunze). “At the same time, we continue to keep an eye on the spatial quality and the character of our outlying area.”
