A house with a thatched roof on the Geldropseweg in Heeze was completely destroyed on Sunday by a large fire. Due to the large amount of smoke that was released during the fire, an NL-Alert was sent. Reed and soot particles have fallen in the area.
The people who were present in the house got away on time and were not injured in the fire, which started in the chimney. The explosion of a gas bottle has not caused any injuries.
The fire was under control around eight in the evening. The fire brigade had the fire burned out in a controlled manner. They did that by demolishing the house with a grab, so that burning parts could still be extinguished.
Earlier in the evening, the fire brigade kept distance to the house, because a gas bottle had exploded. The fire brigade also made a separation between the barns that are close to the house. One of the barns was kept wet to prevent the fire from spreading to the barns.
People can clean up the reeds and soot particles that have fallen themselves, possibly with gloves. If residents have fruit and vegetables in their own garden, they must wash it well before eating.
Smoke over track
The smoke that was released during the fire pulled over the track. ProRail was informed by the fire brigade of the smoke that crossed the track. The smoke did not cause any problems for train traffic.
The fire brigade came into action after a report of a chimney fire. The fire brigade was with two extinguishing vehicles, a platform and a water wagon near the big fire.
There was also help from a special Rietkapbrandrijdseam from Gelderland. The reed was initially pulled off the roof by the control team in the hope that it could be extinguished from the outside to the inside.
Extra fireplace
A water car was asked to get extra fire extinguishing water. A special team for water extraction over larger distances was also in the fire.
A lot of smoke was released at the Rietkapbrand. A reconnaissance unit was on site to determine the size of the smoke. The fire brigade advised people to stay out of the smoke.
