Turnout percentage of large municipalities fluctuates around 50 percent

In many large municipalities, approximately half of eligible voters have voted for the House of Representatives elections by the end of the afternoon. Turnout varies per municipality. For example, the turnout percentage in Groningen at 5 p.m. was almost 60 percent. In Rotterdam the counter at that time was 41.7 percent.
In Utrecht, more than half of all eligible voters had voted by 5 p.m. The turnout there was 55.9 percent. In Nijmegen too, more than half of the eligible residents had cast a vote by 5 p.m., with a turnout percentage of 53.5 percent.
Half an hour later, 51.7 percent of eligible voters in Eindhoven and 50.4 percent in The Hague had gone to the polling station. A spokesperson for The Hague previously said that they expected a “big crowd” of voters around dinner time.

Amsterdam announced the attendance figure at 6 p.m. In the capital, 54.9 percent of eligible voters have voted so far, slightly more than in the previous House of Representatives elections. Then the counter stood at 53 percent around 6 p.m. In Lelystad the turnout percentage at this time was 51.9 percent.
