The mayor’s decision to close the building for six months should ensure that peace returns to the neighborhood. The closure took effect today, the municipality wrote in a press release. No one will have access to the house for the next six months.
With the closure, the municipality hopes to “stop the flow of drug users and traffickers”. In July this year, the police found items in the home that could be used to grow cannabis. The items have now been destroyed.
Measure must ensure a safer neighborhood
The municipality warns that the production of drugs poses major risks to the environment. These include fire risk, nuisance and an increased risk of burglaries. With the temporary closure, the mayor wants to remove these risks and improve safety and quality of life in the neighborhood.
