The Estonian national goalkeeper Karl Hein should secure that there is no goal against FC St. Pauli. The 23-year-old again replaces Stamm keeper Mio Backhaus, who is not yet completely fit again after his shoulder injury. Hein was already in goal against Bayern Munich on the last match day and, despite the 0: 4, showed a strong performance.
Steffen is convinced of his replacement goalkeeper. “I had training impressions, I still looked at his last international matches, so I had no abdominal pain,” said the Werder coach.
FC St. Pauli is currently better than the Bremen, although the Kiezkicker recently lost against the cup winner VfB Stuttgart and runner -up Bayer Leverkusen. After the 1-2 against the Werkelf, attacker Martijn Kaars caused a sensation with a statement: Werder was not a “top top team” compared to Bayer.
St. Pauli’s coach Alexander Blessin did not want to recognize a provocation. “If you see Leverkusen, Dortmund or Bavaria, they are-without being despising-in another category,” said the 52-year-old. Kaars meant so that Werder and FC St. Pauli were teams “who are at eye level,” he said. “And then you can say that, I think without now getting snooty or arrogant to the matter”.
