‘Hopefully not to Rob Kemps’

It seems that the presentation of Lachen Om Home Videos will be released now that Airen Mylene wants to quit. Tina Nijkamp fears one thing: “Hopefully it won’t be Rob Kemps…”

The format of Lachen Om Home Videos is incredibly simple: a whole series of consecutive funny videos are linked together by a presenter who speaks for a green screen stands. And yet this TV classic has been a big hit on SBS 6’s Saturday evenings for years, in recent years with presenter Airen Mylene at the helm.

Airen is stuck

However, Airen wants to stop it, she says in it A.D. According to her, a successor is being sought. “They are looking, but it is not so easy to find. With my schedules it all gets difficult. There isn’t room for me to do it at times. It wasn’t just recorded either.”

She continues: “It is quite time-consuming. I do radio five days a week, present Shownieuws, am an ambassador for the Ronald McDonald Children’s Fund, and want to make a podcast myself. I’m stuck in terms of driving.”

Who now?

The big question is: who now? Viewing authority Tina Nijkamp, who was channel boss of SBS 6 for many years, finds it incredibly unfortunate that Airen is stopping. “Ahhh what a shame!!! Since Airen presented it, the program has become even more popular. A bit like the Hans Kraay Jr. era.”

And what about the other presenters? “Wietze de Jager, Jochem van Gelder and Harry Piekema were very average to very poor presenters.”

‘No Kemps!’

Airen appeals to the program’s audience, Tina knows. “Stars such as Yvon Jaspers (Our Farm and now Self), Paul de Leeuw (Knoop en de Leeuw) and Anita Witzier (12 Streets Green) lost the ratings battle to Airen week after week.”

And now? “Let’s just hope that someone like Rob Kemps won’t succeed her.”

However, that chance cannot be ruled out now that Rob is fighting for the survival of his TV career. According to Albert Verlinde, there is a good chance that SBS 6 will not renew his contract.
