The German hopeful Horst Lehr missed the wrestling world championship from September 16th to 24th in Belgrade.
The 23-year-old from Ludwigshafen injured himself in preparation, as announced by the German Ringer Federation. Freestyle specialist Lehr finished third at the 2021 World Championships and the European Championships last April.
He would have been one of the most promising medal candidates in the German team. Instead, U23 European champion Niklas Stechele was nominated. At the tournament in Serbia, the first tickets for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris will be awarded.
