Today the municipality of Hoogeveen presented the honorary medal of the municipality of Hoogeveen to the Amicale Belgian Special Air Service Circle of Friends.
The organization honors the memory of the First Belgian Special Air Service Parachute Regiment. Units of this regiment were the first to liberate the municipality of Hoogeveen on April 10, 1945.
The intention was to present the award at the celebration of 75 years of freedom in 2020, but that was not possible at the time due to the corona pandemic.
