It is no coincidence that for years the podium of the best-selling scooters in Italy has been monopolized by the Honda SH. The classification saw the triumph of the 125i version, followed by the 350i, while the 150i engine took third place. But the positions on the podium between the three brothers constantly change Even today, after 38 years, the SH remains the reference point among scooters for the city. The reason for this success is that Japan has always focused on quality and innovation. The 150 combines the city dowries with the possibility of being able to go on ring roads and motorways.

Honda SH 150i: How

The new SH shows a redesigned shield which also houses the new led lights arranged on two levels. Even the plastics of the rear shield and the rear side panels have a new, more modern design that makes the line more streamlined. Impressive attention to detail and finishes. The assemblies are flawless and everything seems to be made to last. A very important aspect because this kind of vehicles grinds a lot of kilometers in the city and has to fight daily with rails, cobbles and sidewalks. Also new is the digital instrumentation that provides a lot of information accessible via the controls on the handlebar. The only drawback is the visibility in stronger light conditions.

Honda SH 150i: the mechanics

Among the hidden innovations is the new steel tube frame with lower back beam. This choice made it possible to move the 7-liter tank from the saddle to under the driver’s feet. The advantage? A lower center of gravity for better driving dynamics and a 10-liter compartment under the saddle. The top box is electronically controlled and managed via smart key, as well as the ignition and opening of the saddle. Pushing the SH 150i is a Euro 5 single cylinder with 156 cc and 16.9 hp with 14.9 Nm of maximum torque. More powerful and performing than the previous generation, the top speed has now increased by 5 km / h and improved sprinting from a standstill. Consumption has also been optimized and mark more than 43 km with a liter of petrol. The start and stop system works really well being very quick in starting and delicate in turning off. The news also concern the chassis which has enjoyed some updates to improve comfort. The suspensions have a new calibration and are adjustable in preload on 5 positions. The previous generation 32 mm telescopic fork remains unchanged. The braking system relies on discs, all 240 mm in diameter, very effective and equipped with Abs. The wheels are 16-inch and are made of aluminum with the classic 5-spoke design.

Honda SH 150: How is it going

As mentioned, the SH is the city scooter par excellence, which is why driving expectations are very high. The saddle is 80 cm from the ground and it is easy to touch even for those who are not tall. The SH is an agile and easy to drive scooter also thanks to its weight of only 134 kg. The package offered by Honda is truly complete and the competition has no choice but to chase. Everything works very well starting from the smart key and ending with the LED headlights that guarantee visibility even on roads without lighting. Compared to its rivals, cheaper it must be said, the quietness and performance of the engine as well as the excellent behavior of the suspension are striking. Remarkable is the ability to absorb the roughness of the ground and how the SH is able to make driving comfortable and lively at the same time. The windshield (standard) is also equipped with hand guards for maximum protection in the colder months, a much appreciated feature. Driving is intuitive also thanks to the traction control which is minimally invasive and perfectly calibrated. Remarkable the effectiveness of the brakes that guarantee a lot of force without the Abs intervening. In short, in the city it is difficult to find a better package than the one offered by the Honda SH.

Honda SH 150i: conclusions and price
