There Honda adjust the aim and update, without however distorting it, theAfrica Twin. The popular 1,084 cc parallel twin has been confirmed, with the maximum power of 102 HP remaining unchanged. The engineers instead concentrated on the power curve at low and medium rpm and on the increase in maximum torque, which goes from 105 Nm of maximum torque at 6,250 rpm. to current 112 Nm of maximum torque at 5,500 rpm. A 7% increase all for the benefit of power delivery and driving fluidity. The Japanese technicians also increased the engine’s compression ratio, rising from 10.1:1 to the current 10.5:1 and updated the distribution timing, intake system and exhaust system. Furthermore, all the ignition and injection maps have been revised, achieving better efficiency which leads the engine to obtain Euro5+ approval.

The news in the look

Available in two versions, Crf 1100L and Crf 1100 Adventure Sports, the offer now becomes more targeted. If what immediately catches the eye is the new look, which sees the fairing and fairing redesigned for both to promote aerodynamic protection and give even more aggressiveness to the front of the bike: the new 19″ front rim with tire cannot go unnoticed 110/80 radial that will equip the Adventure Sports version, very user-oriented on asphalt. The travel of the Showa Eera electronic suspension (standard on this model) has also been revised by 20mm. All these changes promise greater dynamism even in pairs on the road, thanks to the new driving structure which has led to a lowering of the center of gravity, simplifying maneuvers when stationary and accommodating those who, perhaps not very tall, will still be able to easily touch the ground with both feet. The 5-position adjustable windshield is confirmed, while the all-new saddle guarantees greater comfort thanks to the new padding which also offers 8% more seat space.

news for off-road

Also new for the Crf 1100L and Crf 1100L “ES” models, which are the ones now more off-road oriented. The 21″ front rim with 90/90 tire and the 18″ rear rim with 150/70 tire are confirmed for them. The rims now have tangential spokes and are equipped with tubeless tyres. Also interesting is the possibility, reported in the registration document, of using alternative M+S tires for off-road driving. Also on this model, by choosing the “ES” version, it is possible to adopt the Showa Eera electronic suspension, with active damping and the possibility of varying the preload of the rear spring, even when moving, from the handlebar controls. Heated grips and a USB socket are standard on these versions. 5 operating modes are available: Hard, MD, Soft, Off Road and User which, integrated into the selection of riding modes, allow you to immediately adapt the behavior of the motorbike depending on the use and the route you want to tackle.

gearbox and driving aids

Both the Crf 1100 Adventure Sports and the Crf 1100 L will be available with manual gearbox or with DCT dual clutch gearbox (Dual Clutch Transmission), further improved and updated, with downshifts that now take place at a higher rpm, and better recognition of curves and driving style, which makes the transition between first and second gear, starting and low-speed maneuvers. The DCT gearbox is also equipped with the “G” mode for off-road use. Among the on-board equipment, for both versions, there is also a 6-axis IMU inertial platform which supervises the operation of the traction control, the anti-wheeling system, the ABS Cornering and the engine braking control.

equipment and colours

The instrumentation is equipped with one Color TFT screen, 6.5 inch with touch screen, which allows you to control and manage all on-board functions, including the management of navigation and connectivity with smartphones. The colors are also new, two are planned for the Africa twin 1100 Adventure Sports: Matt Ballistic Black Metallic with black circles and the tri-color Pearl Glare White with gold circles. The Africa Twin 1100 L “ES” with electronic suspension will be offered in the following colours: Matt Ballistic Black Metallic and the tricolors Pearl Glare White And Glint Wave Blue Metallic both with manual gearbox and DCT gearbox. The Africa Twin 1100 L with mechanical suspension and manual gearbox, however, will be available exclusively in color Grand Prix Red. A wide range of accessories is available which can be purchased individually or within dedicated packages (Rally, Adventure, Urban and Touring) to ensure that everyone can tailor their own Africa Twin, based on their needs. The 2024 Africa Twin models will be available in Honda dealerships from now November 2023the price will be communicated shortly.
