Two men are suspected of having seriously injured a 55-year-old man with kicks on Sunday night in Moabit.

At around 11:40 p.m., a police patrol at the main train station near an exit to Friedrich-List-Ufer became aware of a man bleeding profusely from his face. Alerted rescue workers took the 55-year-old homeless man to a hospital, where his serious facial injuries are being treated in hospital.

Together with the federal police, the police officers evaluated the video surveillance and were able to determine that around 11:25 p.m. two men attacked the 55-year-old with kicks in the head and upper body, left him motionless on the ground and then took a bag from the injured person took an S-Bahn line S 3 in the direction of Erkner.

They got out again at Ostbahnhof. At around 1:45 a.m., federal police officers arrested one of the suspects, a 31-year-old who was also homeless, at Ostbahnhof. A breath alcohol test found the arrested person had a blood alcohol level of over 2.2.

The federal police also found his alleged accomplice at the Ostbahnhof around 8 a.m. on Sunday morning and arrested this 23-year-old man as well.
