Homeless asylum seekers do not want to leave tent camp even after heavy fight: “If something happens outside the camp, no one will care” | Popular in HLN+ REGION

Six people were injured in a major brawl at the new tent camp in Ixelles, near Flagey Square, on Saturday morning. People from outside the camp allegedly attacked camp residents to steal their phones. Two people were arrested and placed in a closed center, according to the office of State Secretary Nicole de Moor. These were refugees who had received a refusal decision. Yet the camp residents do not want to leave the camp. According to the collective ‘Stop the Shelter Crisis’, which stands up for homeless asylum seekers, the events of Saturday morning are not an isolated case. “It shows once again how dangerous it is to live on the street.”
