Flank Reece James, header Marc Cucurella – and then cheers: FC Chelsea won in the English Premier League against Manchester United. Now the “blues” can dream.
Against Manchester United, the Londoners won 1-0 (0-0) – and thus climbed fourth. For Chelsea it was the fourth victory from the past five league games. With 66 points after 37 out of 38 games, the team of coach Enzo Maresca has a good chance of qualifying for the Champions League.
Marc Cucurella, an full -back, scored the goal of the day, as the core competence of which the header was not necessarily. But he can head – even at United, they know that: REECE JAMES followed a precise flank on a pirouette, Cucurella crept away on the long post and headed into the goal as precisely (71.).
United’s Maguire meets, but he only cheers briefly

Manchester also had opportunities before and after, but something was always. There was not always a lot missing, sometimes only centimeters, about the 55th minute: Amad Diallo took off for Bruno Fernandes, who slid past the goal from the corner of the box.
It fit at a season that was a single disappointment for United in the Premier League. The “Red Devils” got 39 points out of 37 games, 16th place. They found a little consolation in Manchester at least in the Europa League, where the club meets the league rival Tottenham in the final (Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 9 p.m.).
Chelseas James only hits the post
But back to the Premier League. The difference in a game that looked like a pairing but was none was the interplay of Chelsea’s full -back.
Template James was the man for the spectacular campaigns that evening: the 23rd minute ran when he promoted a ball with a drop kick towards the opposing goal. He hit it first with the tension, then with the outside, so the shot got a flight curve that would have become an unsolvable problem for Andre Onana. The ball turned to the left, centimeter by centimeter. Only he landed at the post, not in the goal.
At that moment the “blues” were still unlucky. When James was involved in a spectacular scene later, it was different: turn and flank James, header Cucurella – and then cheered.
