The sporting performance of the last few weeks has caused the next club to dismiss the coach. This time it hits the coach of a former Bundesliga club.
Second division club Holstein Kiel has separated from its coach Marcel Rapp. The sports channel “Sky” and the Kieler Nachrichten report this unanimously. And although the club has not yet confirmed the coach’s departure, Rapp himself spoke to “Sky”: “Holstein Kiel will always remain a special club for me and I wish the whole club nothing but the best.”
And further: “I am convinced that we would have mastered the sporting challenges together. At the same time, I still have enormous energy and a great desire to work on the sidelines.”
After four defeats in a row, the relegated team from the first division is also in acute danger of relegation in the second division. With just one point ahead of the relegation place, Holstein is in 14th place in the table.
The 46-year-old Rapp took over the Kiel team in October 2021 as the successor to Ole Werner. In 2024 he led them into the Bundesliga as the first club from Schleswig-Holstein.
