Holstein Kiel binds “solid pillar” Marco Komenda in the long term at an early stage

With KSV since 2020

Holstein Kiel has prematurely extended Marco Komenda’s contract, which originally ran until 2023. The 25-year-old signed a new working paper until June 30, 2026. Signed by SV Meppen in the summer of 2020, the central defender has played 26 games for the “Storks” so far.

“By extending Marco Komenda’s contract, we were able to bind a solid pillar of our defensive line to us for the long term at an early stage. He quickly got used to the second division and developed very well. We are therefore convinced that Marco will be able to bring his qualities to the table and develop them further in the years to come,” said Uwe Stöver, Managing Director of Sport.

Komenda added: “My hopes and expectations when I arrived a year and a half ago have been more than confirmed. I feel very comfortable here with Holstein and have long since settled in Kiel privately. I am therefore very pleased to be part of this team in the long term and to work together to achieve our goals.”
