In the fight against the descent, Hoffenheim looked like an important threesome for a long time. But a dream goal in Heidenheim put a stroke to them.
TSG Hoffenheim and the 1st FC Heidenheim continue on the spot in the relegation battle of the Bundesliga. In the direct duel on Sunday evening there was a 1-1 draw.
In a not always considerable game, it was the Hoffenheimers who were able to present a goal from Haris Tabaković in the 34th minute. In the second half, however, the guests countered by an art shot from Budu ZivziVadze (65th minute). Afterwards, Heidenheim even pushed the winning goal in phases before Hoffenheim became dangerous again. Another goal did not want to succeed in both teams.
Due to the division of points, Hoffenheim remains in table place with 26 points and is now a six points ahead of relegation place 16. Heidenheim remains the role of the bottom of the table with 16 points.
“You have to see it as a challenge – right now,” said Heidenheim’s coach Frank Schmidt shortly before the kick -off at DAZN with a view to the difficult situation. According to the FCH coach, there was a long crisis discussion with his protégés recently: “A lot came out of the team.”
In front of 20,814 spectators in the Sinsheim Arena, apart from the early change of the stricken Hoffenheimer Diadie Samassekou (4th), almost nothing. The Heidenheimers defended robustly, the hosts hardly occurred anything on the offensive.
Even in the middle of the first half, the encounter still had no climax to offer. Despite their visual superiority The game was an boring.
That changed by accident after around half an hour. Tabaković just held his head down after a throw-in and extended the ball into the goal by means of FCH keeper Kevin Müller. It was the second goal of the season of the massive center forward. In the 40th minute, Gift Orban missed the great chance of the second TSG goal.
At the beginning of the second round, the attacker came to ZivziVadze, who had switched to FCH from second division club Karlsruher SC in winter. The first good opportunity was awarded the future Bayern professional Tom Bishop for Hoffenheim (48th).
On the other hand, TSG goalkeeper Oliver Baumann had to parry captain Patrick Mainka against Heidenheim’s captain (52nd). The scene gave the guests more courage. The equalization by Siwsiwadse was deserved, after which even the second FCH goal was in the air.
