The 1. FC Köln proves amazing qualities in the first complex situation of the Bundesliga season. Now the FC fans can actually hope.
Ten points after six games, fourth place overnight: for 1. FC Köln and his over 10,000 fans who traveled with them, it was arranged in Hoffenheim on Friday evening. The third win of the season had the billy goats jumped to a champions League rank. Time for new screenshots of the table, time for new dreams.
The dreams are still premature. However, FC fans can hope for a reasonably worry-free season. On Friday in the Prezero Arena, the billy goats not only survived on the lawn, but also the first more complex situation in the league thanks to the 1-0 success.
After two defeats in a row – despite good performance – the team and coaching team were asked to put the obligation (scoring points) in front of the freestyle (play well). So coach Lukas Kwasniok had expressed it himself. And that succeeded. Kwasniok switched on personnel, took risks, relied on a defender that had not yet been taken into account with Dominique Heintz, Youngster Said El Mala for the first time in the starting eleven – and was rewarded.
These are these risks – or better: the courage that Kwasniok has so far made so successful at FC. Courage that has to do with trust. Trust in young players that they have grown to pressure. Trust in near -sorted players that they too can become important again if the moment makes it necessary. So the FC coach was able to compensate for the failure of Marius Bülter. The 44-year-old was able to bridge the unfortunate injury of eight million transfer Rav van den Berg.
Kwasniok and his players do a lot early in the season. Also because they act closed and leave the heart on the square – or in Kwasniok’s case on the sidelines. Again the FC broke the fans in the stands. Again the FC was rewarded with an energy-giving support from the ranks. And this time the billy goats paid it back with a suitable result.
The interim balance after six games are ten points and therefore a quarter of the points that you usually need to stay in the class. Therefore, the hope of FC fans is justified for a carefree season. If you want to dream beyond, you can do this too. FC doesn’t. That became clear again on Friday evening.
Because with all euphoria, players and those responsible remain humble. This property is probably the decisive key so that a good start to the season can become a good season. And that could possibly be a serious dream out of hope.
